Old Conch Harbor, a longtime staple of the Upper Keys, hosts a delightful collection of small attractions, including the fresh seafood at Old Tavernier Restaurant & Bar, the delectable Cuban bites at Harbor Cafe 90, and the thrilling jet ski rentals at JSK Watersports. More recently, the charming harbor hosts an up-and-coming kayak tour operator, Tavernier Creek Kayak Tours.
Born out of a passion to show the world the magic of the Florida Keys and surrounding natural ecosystems, Tavernier Creek Kayak Tours was founded in December 2024 with just a few second-hand kayaks. Tavernier Creek Kayak Tours seeks to show visitors the unique and unforgettable mangrove forests surrounding Tavernier Creek in an eco-friendly, adventurous, and educational manner.
Tavernier Creek Kayak Tours' owner and operator, Jade, has always held a deep love for the ocean. Surprising to many, Jade didn't visit the ocean for the first time until he was a teenager. As a child, Jade lived in rural farming regions in Idaho, less than an hour's drive from Yellowstone National Park.
Jade always had a keen eye for nature, spending much of his youth exploring the winding turns of the famous Snake River. He also helped his parents with the family farm, raising horses, cows, goats, chickens, and more.
Despite his mountain roots, Jade knows his place is in the warm tropic climate surrounding the Caribbean. He spent some time living in the Dominican Republic teaching English, and also as a crew member shuttling various water vessels throughout the Atlantic Ocean. His solid work ethic even earned him the praises of a US Coast Guard Captain, who said, "Jade is now officially on my go-to list for a crew member."
Jade has several years' experience guiding visitors through the mangrove forests surrounding Tavernier Creek. He is dedicated to providing you with a comfortable and educational experience as he guides you through the stunning natural scenery of the Florida Keys.
